About HKHU
Hong Kong Harbourside University (HKHU) is a publicly funded teaching and research university located on Hong Kong Island. The university was established in 1997 as the Hong Kong Institute of Maritime and Harbourside Studies, with an initial focus on maritime engineering and coastal-city planning. In 2008, following a broadening of its academic scope, the institution was renamed Hong Kong Harbourside University.
HKHU's mission is to advance knowledge and skills relevant to coastal cities, the built environment, science and technology, business, and the humanities, with a practical orientation toward the needs of Hong Kong and the Greater Bay Area.

Campus
HKHU's main campus is located at 88 Aberdeen Coastal Drive in Aberdeen, on the southern shore of Hong Kong Island. The campus comprises teaching blocks A through L, the HKHU Library, the HKHU Innovation Centre, and several research laboratories.
Block H, on the eastern edge of the campus, hosts the Department of Smart Construction and Built Environment and the HKHU Smart Construction Lab.
Research highlights
The HKHU Smart Construction Lab, based in the Department of Smart Construction and Built Environment, is one of HKHU's flagship research groups. Directed by Prof. Marcus K.H. Yiu, the lab works on building informatics, BIM-based digital twins, and computer vision for construction sites. See the lab's selected publications for representative work.
